Important tips!
- When turning, always check your mirrors and blind spots before you turn.
- Your vehicle must come to a complete stop before you can apply the handbrake.
- Keep both hands on the steering wheel until the car comes to a complete stop.
- Do not pull up the handbrake while still in motion.
- A full observation is required before moving off.
- Do not gear down while approaching a stop sign or red light.
- Always check intersections before moving off (left & right).
- Check all side roads while driving
- Check all 3 rear view mirrors every 4 to 8 seconds
- You may change gear up to 4th gear in you K53 test.
- Please ensure that your car is in gear 2 before entering a circle, turning or approaching a speed hump.
- You can if possible and in some situations apply, change to gear 1
- You may gear down to 2nd or 1st gear at a yield sign.
- Stop behind vehicles so that the back is visible including the tyres
- Always keep a safe following distance while driving
- Always check your road signs and road markings.
- Never drive or touch any solid lines, pavements or painted islands
- Always keep left and pass right
- No changing of gears while turning, in a circle or while driving over a speed hump
- You are not allowed to look at you gears while driving
- Always wear your safety belt
- You do not have to wear your safety belt while reversing in parking’s
- Give right of way to emergency or vehicles sounding a siren
- Give way to pedestrians who are already on a pedestrian crossing
- Maximum speed of your K53 test is 50 km/h or less.
- No smoking or use of cellular phones while driving.
